To put a spring in your step...
With the vernal equinox already days behind us and Easter well on the way, English Cabaret have put together an eggs-citing and eclectic playlist from their library of recordings for your springtime delectation.
Unashamedly upbeat as befits the lighter days, it features the Song of the Swallow from the 20th anniversary production of The Happy Prince. The show itself was staged for the first time in a breezy tent on the green at Buxton during the festival at just this time of year in 1992!
As buds come into flower and the world is washed with fresh green hope a woman a piano sings songs of sunshine, dreams and green rain. Each of her songs has a beautiful lyric video which you can find on her YouTube channel.
There are songs from the English Singing Baker too (the keener among you can go to her YouTube channel and cook the accompanying bake). Both these channels showcase the editing of our own Robert Blackmore and are well worth a visit.
A song will be posted each day on YouTube and X around Eastertide. You can catch the first on 26th March and once the series is up all tracks will remain available on our YouTube channel for a limited season. At least until the sun grows hotter!
