Lily Casson is a singer with a passion for musicals who loves to bake. From this has come the creation of her alter-ego, English Singing Baker, who regularly shares recipes online in blog posts and videos. As well as her own food styling and photography, she also designs graphics and provides other media for English Cabaret shows.
Chorally trained, Lily spent 7 years singing with Southwark Cathedral Girls Choir, leading it for her final 4 years. During her time there, she sang on BBC 1 and Radio 3 as well as performing concerts at the Royal Festival Hall and Royal Albert Hall with John Rutter.
Since 2012, Lily has been a principal with English Cabaret, performing lead roles in The Happy Prince (which toured from Edinburgh to London and Dublin), Dreams of Peace & Freedom, and English Cabaret Hour at the Edinburgh Fringe, where she first introduced English Singing Baker. At the Fringe, she also created and performed her own solo show, Encounters.
For the past 2 years, she has been working on The Humans in the Telling, a commemorative family project telling the story of her great grandfather, David Maxwell Fyfe. In addition to playing her great grandmother, Sylvia, and lead singing in performance and on the recording, she creates social media storytelling to share the story online and contributed to and co-compiled an accompanying eBook.
Over the coming months, Lily is looking forward to sharing her love of baking in a series of ESB video pilots and putting together a century of song as she continues her project, I Heart Musicals.
