Dreams of Peace & Freedom

a song cycle by Sue Casson

Blackmore conceived and directed Dreams of Peace & Freedom, selecting his grandfather's words and identifying the poems that inspired him, then shaping them to tell the story of his journey from Nuremberg to Strasbourg.

Educated at Winchester College, he studied History at Keble College, Oxford University. His grandfather's letters and papers were first discovered in 1999. After archiving them, he wrote a play based on them - MAKING HISTORY produced in Sevenoaks and Oxford,

He has spent 35 years exploring ideas and telling stories that challenge preconception, delighting in working with writers and performers  of excellence.

Lily speaks the words of her great grandmother Sylvia Maxwell Fyfe and is the leading singer In Dreams of Peace & Freedom.

Her time singing with Southwark Cathedral's Girls' Choir inspired the score.

Credits with the choir include appearances on BBC Radio 3 and BBC 1, and at the Royal Albert and Festival Halls. With English Cabaret she has played Pandora in The Happy Prince in Edinburgh, Dublin and London, as well as combining her twin passions for singing and baking into her cabaret persona, English Singing Baker.
