There is an Englishness to the music of Casson, not a Britishness.
Traditional in the truest sense - folk songs that are timeless.'
A graduate in English from St Hugh's College Oxford, Casson began singing her songs on BBC radio whilst still a student. Her career since has been a tapestry of writing, performing, acting, voice-over and creative mentoring.
2014 saw the launch of 'a woman, a piano...' - a project onstage and online to creatively explore how Casson's eclectic body of work flows from her song-writing style. Under this banner she returned to Edinburgh with English Cabaret as the storyteller Chorus for another successful run of Oscar Wilde's classic fable The Happy Prince, for which she wrote music and lyrics, continued her cabaret appearances, and led the premiere of Dreams of Peace & Freedom from the piano in David Maxwell Fyfe's home city. In 2015 'a woman, a piano...' online has blossomed into a Soundcloud playlist of the same name, and a youtube channel platform for her recordings under the same name. Visit her channel and subscribe by clicking the YouTube button below, or see her latest uploads here. Her live cabaret appearances continue, and a one woman festival show is in development for early 2016. Click here to discover more.
